From one Mom to Another

I believe we live our best lives when we fuel our body with the proper nutrition it needs.  Growing up as a dancer and runner, I knew there was a connection between food as fuel and how well I performed.  As a clinical dietitian, I have worked with many clients, from the cardiovascular and surgical intensive care units to the neonatal and maternity units in the hospital, culminating in my special interest with Moms, kids, and their families.  I have enjoyed teaching as a college nutrition lecturer, published and presented research, and volunteered for various nutrition societies.

My personal story

When trying to conceive, I started to look at food and how it could nourish my growing baby.  After having my son, I struggled with less sleep, too much caffeine, sore joints, muscles, and a body and mind that was quite different from before I became pregnant.  I began having severe food intolerances and frustrating bouts of inflammation in my joints, along with diarrhea and constipation.  I saw many specialists who did not have clear answers for me.  After doing further research on anti-inflammatory foods and treating myself with an elimination diet, I reintroduced many foods back into my life.  Through a gentle, kind attitude and self-care emphasis, I lost the weight I had gained during my pregnancy and was able to enjoy food again.  I recovered from multiple physical injuries and relearned how to use my joints and muscles.  I learned that feeling good, happy, and confident with my body and mind were my personal goals to wellness.  Nutrition for Moms was created to help women find their strength and support them on their own personal journeys to health.

I look forward to supporting you in achieving your personal nutrition and wellness goals.
